Guild Member Carol Thurman

With sadness we say goodbye to longtime guild member Carol Thurman of Claremore, OK. Carol has actively served the guild in many roles since the day she first joined, including past President and Quilt Show Chair. Carol won many awards for her quilts, particularly for her exceptional applique skills. She also excelled at embroidery and hand quilting. Carol particularly enjoyed teaching her talents to others. Her guild friends will miss her greatly.
A Memorial Service for Carol is scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2017 @ 1:00 p.m. at Lifechanger Church, 2221 Cornerstone Ave., Claremore, OK.

Scrappy Trip Blocks

Diana Jasany, a 15 year old North Carolina Girl Scout, is making twin-sized quilts for teenagers aging out of foster care for her Gold Award Project, the highest level of achievement in Girl Scouts. It takes 42 scrappy 12” blocks to make one quilt and Diana’s goal is to collect blocks from all 50 states. Diana is using Bonnie Hunter’s free pattern “Scrappy Trip Around the World” which can be printed with permission from Bonnie’s Quiltville website. You can follow Diana’s project on Diana’s Golden Needle on Facebook.

If you would like to donate one of these quick and easy blocks to Diana’s project, please give your block to Susan at our July 23rd Anniversary Luncheon to send to Diana. If you would like to donate a second block, we will join them into a Love Quilt from the guild.

Scrappy Trip Block by SusanTo make one 12″ scrappy trip block you only need:
