Shirley Potter is this year’s lucky winner of the special July quilt top, made with extra blocks from last year’s fabric challenge. Blocks were created by various guild members and arranged in this awesome setting by Linda Hertensteiner and Paula Klaassen. Congratulations, lucky Shirley.
Country Fare Quilter’s Guild received three fantastic ribbons on the 2016 Donation Quilt “Everything’s Black and White” at Muskogee Area Quilt Guild’s annual quilt show last month: First Place in the Group Category, Judge’s Choice, and Viewer’s Choice. The quilt was put together by members Linda Hertensteiner and Paula Klaassen with 2015 Fabric Challenge blocks created by various guild members and then machine quilted by guild member and President Judy Haines. The quilt will be given away at our annual “Autumn Leaves” Quilt Show in October, 2016 (exact date pending). Tickets can be purchased from guild members or at one of our regular guild meetings. Congratulations, guild members!
Country Fare Quilter’s Guild’s 2015 donation quilt “Because of the Brave” won Best of Show, Best Machine Quilting, First Place in its category, and Viewer’s Choice at the Muskogee Area Quilt Guild’s “Quilted Dreams” quilt show this past weekend. A very special Congratulation goes to Judy Haines, who set the blocks together and did the extraordinary machine quilting. Congratulations and thank you to all guild members who created a block for the quilt during our 2014 Fabric Challenge. We will give the quilt away on Saturday, October 17th at our annual quilt show. Tickets are available at our regular guild meetings or from guild members.
Brown Bag Round Robin
Participants place a pieced or appliqued 12″ block with a selection of coordinating fabrics in an anonymous brown paper bag. We will select a bag, add a round to the center block, return it, choose another bag, add a round, etc. until each wall hanging has three rounds. Sandi Alger (shown above) is coordinating the bag exchange. We plan to reveal our completed Round Robin projects at the end of the year.
Annual Fabric Challenge
Fabric Challenge: Linda Hertensteiner & Paula Klaasen
Linda Hertensteiner (shown above) and Paula Klaasen have selected the theme “Everything’s Black & White” for our annual Fabric Challenge, featuring black and white fabrics. Our challenge is to create a block using the chosen fabrics. Blocks will be on display at our annual quilt show October 16 & 17, 2015 for viewer’s choice voting and will then become our 2016 Donation Quilt. All members are encouraged to participate.
Wool Group Block-of-the-Month
Wool Group members are working together on a block-of-the-month using the book Pennies from Heaven by Gretchen Gibbons. The stitch group meets at 1:00 p.m. each month following our regular guild meeting and is open to everyone.
Congratulations to Velma for winning this year’s July quilt top, made with the extra quilt blocks from our 2013 fabric challenge. The blocks were created by various guild members and arranged by Judy H. and Sandy A. Beautiful!
