Brown Bag Round Robin

2015-01-22-FC

Participants place a pieced or appliqued 12″ block with a selection of coordinating fabrics in an anonymous brown paper bag. We will select a bag, add a round to the center block, return it, choose another bag, add a round, etc. until each wall hanging has three rounds. Sandi Alger (shown above) is coordinating the bag exchange. We plan to reveal our completed Round Robin projects at the end of the year.

Fabric Challenge: Linda Hertensteiner & Paula Klaasen

Linda Hertensteiner (shown above) and Paula Klaasen have selected the theme “Everything’s Black & White” for our annual Fabric Challenge, featuring black and white fabrics. Our challenge is to create a block using the chosen fabrics. Blocks will be on display at our annual quilt show October 16 & 17, 2015 for viewer’s choice voting and will then become our 2016 Donation Quilt. All members are encouraged to participate.

Monthly Wool Group

The Wool Group has been alive and active, meeting at 1:00 p.m. after our regular guild meetings. So far, the group has shared lots of ideas and sample projects, received instruction on how to hand-dye light wool using darker shades of wool, had a lesson on needle-felting, and made wool needlecases. Members are currently working on wire-frame Christmas trees made from old Army (and Navy) blankets, which have been cut into strips and fringed. As the holidays approach, we will concentrate on making decorations for our trees and also penny rugs for them to sit on. The group is open to all guild members and friends, and there are no dues. We are just happy to share our knowledge and supplies. Come join us!

Thank You, Velma

We thanked Velma for her service to the guild as 2013 President by presenting her with quilt blocks. She said she will probably make three or four quilts. Thanks!
